I am so pleased to be blogging Lotti and Louis’ Stepney Hill Farm wedding today. From the first minute until the last, this wedding was fab – one of my favourites of 2019 so far.
We started off in Pickering for some really calm and uber chilled prep. As soon as I walked into the house I felt at home. Everyone was just so warm and friendly and kept offering me cups of tea, champagne and chocolate (Lindt to be precise). All of which I turned down of course…other than the Lindt. Come on, who can turn down Lindt???
So, chocolates eaten, I actually started taking some photos. There was so much lovely natural light coming in from the living room window while Lotti was having her makeup done. It lit her up brilliantly and made it so much fun for me to quietly go about and get pictures without her noticing (whoever invented the silent camera shutter, a big thank you).
I set off to Stepney Hill Farm in Scarborough once the hair and makeup were done so I could get pictures of guests arriving. It was great to bump into Joanne and Phil whose wedding I shot last year. And lovely to see that Joanne is now seven months pregnant!
Lotti and Louis’ shared love of music brought them together and Louis even proposed in the Cavern Club. So this wedding had a real rock ‘n’ roll theme to it. There were Beatles references everywhere (table names, loads of strawberries and commitments to keep feeding eachother Lindt when they are 64). Louis and the best men used plectrums to make their buttonholes. What an amazing idea! The choice of music from Drive (and Frankie) fitted in with their own amazing taste in music. Lotti’s Mum gave her away and her Dad delivered the ceremony. Pretty standard really…!
Oh, and did I mention Lotti’s family from Finland? Loads had made it over to the UK for this. They hadn’t seen eachother for years so it really made for an emotion filled English, Finnish and Swedish speaking day. And of course, there were plenty of hugs! Or should I say…halauksia. (I have no idea if that’s right by the way…blame Google if it’s something offensive!)
